Not really, no, as illustrated by the various ways in which IP law is open to flagrant and repetitive abuse by any copywrong troll capable of mailing a subpoena.

You could make IP law extremely simple, transparent, and fair. That, however, would put a hundred thousand lawyers on the street whose current job revolves around IP law being nigh-impossible to decipher.

That’s a very powerful, if informal, lobby which hasn’t changed since the days of the roman republic – that of the advocate.
