yep i could understand to a limited degree Dropbox been more restricted (but they just Block public links on Hashed files that are bad/DMCA take downed)

but if its a back up service with No way to make public Links, all they should be doing is having Multi session protection (stop the account from been used at more then 10 locations for example or mass amount of data use) they should not give one hoots What is in the backup and More so that it has a .torrent file NAME not what is inside the file itself

they do not understand how to run a backup service

Crashplan looks like a good option. No backup limit, and you can even encrypt the files locally (better make sure you save the key, if you lose it, SOL).

It’s about having a backup outside of home, in case something happened locally. And Crashplan allows you to encrypt the files locally, so only you can access them.

(The software does allow you to backup to a local drive or your friend’s drive for free, it’s the backup to Crashplan’s servers that cost money)

Just curious what you did for offsite backups? I have over a TB of photography work I’ve done as well as thousands and thousands of hours of edits on the photos…. among other data.

I keep drooling and dreaming of the 1TB optical discs they promise. When I get around to it, I plan to use encrypted data on bluray discs stored in bank safety deposit box instead of cloud services. I suspect ISPs are going to start enforcing tighter bandwidth caps eventually :/

My belongings are well-documented and I carry good homeowners insurance. Many of my most “valuable” possessions outside of a some sentimental items are digital. All old family photos from 1880 to present are scanned. All old family documents are scanned. Most of our history is now digital.

Zoolz is not even on the radar as far as credible backup companies. Crashplan is the “best” in many peoples’ eyes.
