I wouldn’t mind seeing a charge for DMCA requests… And if you think about it, it’s only fair….

This helps the media company’s bottom line – every pirated file online could be downloaded by everyone with an internet connection…. That means for every 99-cent MP3 that pops up online, they’re loosing billions of dollars (every download is a lost sale * billions of people with internet access)…. Just imagine how much they’ll lose if a $30+ dollar bluray gets leaked…. So in reality $1 per request really isn’t that much to ask, since it saves them billions per file….

And while it helps the media company, AFAIK, there’s no real benefit to the tech companies. Take, for example, Time Warner, who said they could only handle so many IP address lookups per month; that if they handled every request they received, their techs wouldn’t be able to do anything else. They would either have to hire a new crew or re-task current employees, taking them away from whatever projects they were hired to do. Same should apply to DMCA take down requests. Someone is going to be needed to ensure they’re handled in a timely manner, and take care of any complaints (like Uptobox calling daily mistakenly thinking MAFIAA could ever possibly make a mistake in their take-down requests), etc… All so that some none-related company can save a few extra sales…. I’d imagine a little compensation wouldn’t hurt. I doubt Google gets a check from Paramount for any of the money they got by Google removing all the links to the new Star Trek movie… A buck to de-list it’s entry at TPB, another for KAT, another for Mega, … Only seems fair…

uptobox should be able to sue just like the Koch Brothers did when their website was DDOSed. If costing a company web hits can have a monetary value for one company it can for another.
Piracy Stops Here LLC should be held legally responsible as should Google.

If only abuse on the web were just as illegal for a corporation as it is for individuals.
The double standards are more astounding than ever before.

Agreed, and let’s make DRM circumvention of their stuff legal if they abused the DMCA take down requiests. It only seems fair that they shouldn’t be protected by it if they can’t take it seriously.
