It’s a good thing they’re only going for $250K, not $2.5 million.
I must say, I agree that, for µTorrent and its parent, BitTorrent, Inc., that way suicide lies [apologies to King Lear]. This slippery slope, toward which the company is baby-stepping, may end in the emigration (to Tixati and elsewhere) of many loyal µTorrent users.
I believe the first, if much smaller, step was the addition of advertisements to the client interface, which broughta barrage of complaints to the forums. Personally, I have no problem with BitTorrent, Inc. meeting its costs by placing advertisements in the interface; that is, as long as the ads stay silent. I heartily object to being distracted, or even startled, by sudden noise or chatter when I’m doing other work.

What you consider ‘good’, I might think is worthless, so your entire point is moot.

Take Samsung for example. I have a note3, yet Samsung produces cheap phones as well, which are not ‘good’ when compared to it. These cheaper phones are still incredibly useful for many people. Your idea would prevent millions of people having choices simply because you don’t think it is ‘good’

If you consume ANY content, the producers deserve SOME reparation. The question is, how much is reasonable?

No, only *good* content producers. This may or may not be good content — you don’t know.

More choice is only good if the new choices are good. You have no idea if this is good or terrible, and so your entire comment is worthless.

As i stated above, i feel the best way is some form of crowdsourcing.
Cuts out the middleman either mostly or entirely.
As for not everything being about fucking ‘us’, you might want to read up on Bittorrent Inc.’s recent history.
