there’s a similar software called Tox.
And unlike Bleep, it’s free and open source, and available for multiple platforms.

Retroshare is another alternative, a little bit more complex but with more features:

If you still trust proprietary, closed source software released by for-profit companies like BitTorrent.Inc, and want to try Bleep, I have good news for you :
Their invite system is bs.

Actually, they’re so similar it makes you wonder if BitTorrent didn’t just fork Tox to begin with.

Also, on top of being free and open source,
it’s already available for Windows, MacOS, Linux and Android.
Be sure to check Retroshare too. It’s less straightforward but has more features.

By law in most countries there has to be a “legal intercept” option. Think COFEE as one of the “legal intercept” tools for windows.

And sometimes these tools get hacked (by three letter agencies, upgraded on steroids, would probably be a better choice of words than merely hacked) like in the case where the Greek government including the heads of the military and police were tapped by … censored … and the network manager of Vodafone Greece was found dead in an apparent suicide.

Anyhow back to my main point if your security is built on a swamp like windows. All your privacy is in the hands of Microsoft.

Looking at message packets, there is no plaintext message content visible, but it appears as though every UDP packet containing a message is prefaced with BTCH.D: http://pastebin.com/9Ka8UCUW
