They will all have to adapt. If they don't offer sell streaming online content other people will profit from offering that service. I don't have any sympathy for them, I don't care for 'stars' but after they tried to shut the internet down, I almost hope their entire industry goes bankrupt.

I think the direction will be based on "going viral" since that is the cheapest form of advertising and rewards quality

When I worked for an online streaming service that had clients from many network and cable channels, movie studios, etc. I'd constantly see these companies doing video encode testing on their accounts with video that obviously was not their own. The reason I knew it was not their own was because they failed to remove the release group names before uploading the files to our servers. Nothing new here. Just the same old hypocrites.

I just found this article, thought I would comment. They dont want to attempt using todays internet technology for purchasing as they know all too well that the technology is far too easy to manipulate. Even if the major players set up a subscription service for media, through private torrent or on their own websites (which probably wouldnt be cheap at first).. there would be too many for some to use/share the content they deliver elsewhere. For that reason alone, you can see where they are coming from, they feel as if they don't have many options.

I have no idea where the industry is going, from the late 90s digital downloading (legal and otherwise) has increased a fair amount. The music industry (retail stores) should surely be the first to feel the pressure due to the far smaller size of downloaded files compared to the movie industry, but have sales really been lost? From most forums, it seems that those downloading do not care, and for one sole reason. They feel that theres proof that most downloading often do it out of habit alone, with possible proof of that being that the music and movie industries are still surviving, still paying their actors and singers millions of dollars for single albums and films. They believe that they do not give enough room for new participants. We are living in the whole world of celebrity with the hollywood/general 'star' factor where the industry only focuses on the main players. Its about making money from the public, not creativity. The simon cowell music karaoke shows were supposed to combat that, but theyve not changed the situation one bit, as they have started to focus on winners becoming hollywood esque celebrities themselves-more overpaid puppets for an overpaid industry. But even cowell himself has become bored and has decided to quit.

Who knows where we will be in 20 years time.

This site controls only 20% of torrent downloads, so my IP showed "We have no records on you." I hope it would expand the base of torrents.
But the facts that were identified cheered me up. It would be the reason to control the personal in companies.
Also I found one of developers, Ilia R. on russian site, this is probably the company he works in http://new.allianse5.ru/index.php/informatsiya/team
