Just because iTunes is preloaded on a mac doesn’t mean you have to use it. Files are files. You can drag and drop them into any program and there’s plenty of alternative players, incl FLAC, OGG, WMV etc.

uBefore 2009 iTunes used mp3′s and could convert them. They had DRM because labels insisted on it and public demanded labels (there’s been 2 at least failed services without labels) but the DRM was SOFT. Rip a cd and reload it – DRM was GONE. It took labels years to figure out that’s what people were doing and demanded hard DRM. Apple said no and went for 2 years without any major RIAA labels. Finally they did. They pushed for DRM free stuff. Software is just as easy although why when a new OS is just $20? Keys are listed all over the place. And programs actually work, no conflicts. I can still use a 20 year old mac on the web without knowing much about it. I can focus on the task I want to do, not the computer.

Ah, being jealous. The typical reply of iFanboys to all criticism of Apple. Nothing new.

Maybe you guys who glorify Jobs should understand some of us don’t need a smartphone, be an iPhone or an Android, and with a Nokia that serves only for calls and SMS and whose battery lasts for nearly two weeks have more than enough. Or that for casual listening of music a cheapo MP3 is more than enough. Especially given that cheapo MP3 has radio and a screen, much unlike the iPod -at least the Shuffle-
