The same things used to be said about cars, and laws were passed to ban them, or at least HEAVILY restrict them, so they wouldn’t impact the hardworking people already employed in the transport industry and undermine the then economy.

Can you imagine the hit our current economy would take if we were to take all road transport and put it back to animal-power?

That the economy dipped during the change is natural during any major change, but afterwards, the economy comes out massively larger. But sure if you only look at the short term, during the changeover dip, then sure it’s ‘undermining’, but if you look longer term, it’s a massive boon to the economy.

Fuck the piracy thing – what’s amazing is that over 350,000 people viewed a *Lars von Trier* film within 3 weeks of its general release? Go out to imdb.com and browse the box-office take of other von Trier films for comparision. The studios are bitching about piracy, but I suspect that LvT himself is dancing his own unique and peculiar Happy Dance.

People keep saying how interesting van trier is,
from what I’ve seen I’m not sure that I agree.

Luckily I was able to form my own opinion via torrenting without having to spend a fortune on parking and popcorn.
