I see comments like this on TorrentFreak and I think it would be useful to point out that before the past couple decades the U.S. was known internationally for having lax copyright enforcement/law. The shift to more draconian copyright enforcement was an imitation of European standards in copyright law. I realize that from this point in time it seems like the U.S. is the big bad guy and Europe is just falling in line but this really has a much richer history than that. Not apologizing for the U.S. I just think it is silly to imagine most of Europe as any less capitalist or shitty. At least abortion is legal in the U.S. still, unlike Germany.
