The sue-happy alphabet soups (MPAA,RIAA, Ifpi, etc) would be happy to have elementary computer science banned as an accessory to illegal filesharing, after all, and have been pressuring most open platforms to adopt that view.

However, that tool showed a lot of gaps with other contents. They cannot block explicit racist/harassment/scam content, but shutted down troll and activism sites (as Trance Producers Trolls and the NGO Stranded No More, dedicated to sea life).

If people do not use FB’s services – if people ignore the background clutter on webpages – if people use AD Blockers and plugins that filter content on webpages – liek RSS readers or access web content in any other fashion beyong the stock vanilla desktop web browser view – then YES – absolutely people can forget about something.
