One reason journalists ignored them but then Police threw tear gas at Reuters workers and then damaged their equipment as they fled.

At least the large journalism influx have improved relations since their initial crack-down.

AJ’s main bias is in favour of the Qatari government, for obvious reasons – it’s pretty impartial when it comes to western politics. It doesn’t reflexively favour the American or other western POV, which can easily be (and has been) spun as an anti-American agenda by its competitors: we confuse the absence of a bias with a bias in the opposite direction at our peril.

It is really hard to believe that the police would actually launch tear gas cannisters at an obvious news crew without cause. [sarcasm]
