They can go sodomize themselves with a law book as far as it concerns me. I will hack it and I will play backups of my games instead of the originals (along with testing before buying). I still need a bd burner though =/

You are correct. They also confiscated the computers of the person who discovered the hack and tried (but failed) to force twitter give them the logs of everyone who viewed the hacker’s twitter feed.

Now they’re changing their EULAs to make them more restrictive (no non-approved hardware can be attached), and it’s said that the latest PS3 firmware contains a rootkit. That means, they have full remote control of your PS3 and can check what’s on your hard disk, what devices are attached, etc. They are also banning jailbroken PS3 from the PSN.

Finally, there are rumours that they’re working on an “unhackable” PS3. http://bit.ly/hTzoRB
Which probably means even more layers of DRM for their lucky customers.

No, you’re not correct. They declared jailbreaking the iPod Touch and iPhone legal; game consoles weren’t included in the ruling.

would i be corrct in saying that sony also tried to gag people from revealing that sony ps3 had issues which was revealed by watchdog a few years back. even to the point where some computer techs were helping users and solving the issue where sony couldnt be arsed.

It allows Sony to sue the hackers or ‘pirates’, essentially sweeping the whole PS-jailbreak under the theoretical rug. They’re using the excuse of “If we sue the people who use the hack, then we can scare others into not using it”.

It’s a normal reaction, they have a problem, they try to solve it by throwing a book of law at your face.

Wonder how long it will take them to realize they should talk to their customers to resolve things instead to sending threatening messages of legal action.
