I’ll tell you the experience in my country: they want to harsh IP law and even the MPAA president had a meeting last year with the Prime Minister. Nothing new.

The “funniest” part is that, not only how VAT to “cultural” (in some cases, not so cultural) suffered a heavy increase but also how -besides unemployment problems, how expensive is media and low wages, etc-. when some companies that offered legal Internet services such as streaming, etc. haven’t come here due to the expensive money they’d to pay in rights. As it sounds.

With this, only an idiot -read: a politician or a MAFIAA man- could think harshing IP law filesharing would decrease. I don’t care: things continue for me as before and if they go HADOPI-like, etc. time to end buying stuff I download.

legal alternatives can come, but they are using the pirates as an excuse not to offer them when they created this problem in the first place, don’t forget that.

I had netflix for a time, but the content is by far subpar, so I cancelled after exhausting the content I liked. I signed up for another trial membership a year after quitting and the content was worse.

The choice is theirs, either they get some of my money or they get none. I have a tv that can stream video from my computer with no add-on boxes. Netflix made it easy with a smart tv, but it’s nearly as easy with my own computer. People pay for convenience, but when you offer crap, well, I’m better off pirating.

Again, it comes back, as it always will, to the user experience. Fail in that and you have failed as a company.

Just once, I’d like to see the removal of blatantly wrong copyright claims… like HBO requesting the removal of Game of Thrones from HBO. Just do it.. and then publicize it. There MUST be some mechanism in place that these are verified prior to being sent and not just automated. There also needs to be penalties for false reports not made in good faith.
