I’d be curious as to what parameters are used to decide which sites to take down. Re1ease.net was a tadpole in a pool of sharks, no offense intended. I’m just struck by the willy nilly approach demonstrated in picking which domains to seize and whom to ignore.

The US didn’t touch any servers in other countries, they changed the DNS record (on a server that does reside in the US unfortunately) to stop pointing to the foreign server. If the sites switch their domain to use DNS names that are not managed in the US, the problem goes away and they are back in business.
