I can understand how the movie and music industries do have a point about piracy in some cases, but the TV companies’ “problem” is entirely their own doing. I have no sympathy for them whatsoever, and I’d actually encourage people to pirate shows as much as possible until it hits these morons in the wallet hard enough for them to provide usable and convenient legal alternatives.

It comes down to this – why should a company have a right to tell me “you can watch this for free, but only at the time we choose to show it, and there’s no alternative even if you’re willing to pay”? They get no more money from me if I watch it at that time than if I watch it at a time that suits me. The only difference is that if they had their way I’d have to plan my day around their retarded schedules, and I feel it’s entirely within my rights not to do that.

And I don’t understand thair claim about advertisements either. If that’s really the case why don’t TV companies let me stream every program they’ve ever shown from their site with commercials inserted every 10-15 minutes (and a subscription fee to cover bandwidth costs)?

@ 19: Maybe because the alldominant TPB originated in Sweden and advocated piracy most aggressively.

Another reason for DL TV-series and such is that you evade the commercials.
