I can understand how the movie and music industries do have a point about piracy in some cases, but the TV companies' "problem" is entirely their own doing. I have no sympathy for them whatsoever, and I'd actually encourage people to pirate shows as much as possible until it hits these morons in the wallet hard enough for them to provide usable and convenient legal alternatives.

It comes down to this - why should a company have a right to tell me "you can watch this for free, but only at the time we choose to show it, and there's no alternative even if you're willing to pay"? They get no more money from me if I watch it at that time than if I watch it at a time that suits me. The only difference is that if they had their way I'd have to plan my day around their retarded schedules, and I feel it's entirely within my rights not to do that.

And I don't understand thair claim about advertisements either. If that's really the case why don't TV companies let me stream every program they've ever shown from their site with commercials inserted every 10-15 minutes (and a subscription fee to cover bandwidth costs)?

@ 32 Feb 18, 2010 at 16:14 by LOPPSI2: I used to PAY for cable tv exactly to run away from commercials. While there are still channels that have an amount of advertisements I consider reasonable most of them are getting on my nerves. Also, downloading from the internet enables me to watch it when I have time and where I want - think of it as that tivo thing taken to new levels, there`s no difference in recording it or downloading it. If I want the full quality I`ll go for the BDs....

On a note related to this article, it was obvious IPRED would fail hard. So far they caught what? Some clueless DC users?

Another fail on MAFIAA`s face.

Another reason for DL TV-series and such is that you evade the commercials.
