This is about the megastars, right? Once their contracts run out, they won't need *any* website to sell their music. They have websites of their own that people look for online where they can make 100% of the profits from sales once their contracts are up with the major labels who helped them become mega stars. They're not going to go with some place where they have to pay out.
If they do, why not CDBaby.com or IndieMusic.com or any one of the *hundreds* of well established and respected indie music sites that give most of the profits to the musicians themselves? Why would they go with an unproven entity?
Oh, if the eeevviill music industry was behind the Megaupload take down because it was just supporting music, why didn't they go after any of the indie music sites that sell more and more from independent musicians/bands that will never be under a record label?
The music industry put a ton of money into making a product of the mega stars' music by mutual agreement and so controls the use of the product. They own the product until the stars' contracts run out.
If you truly don't mind paying for music, hit your favorite indie band site up. They all have downloadable music for sale.
