Copyright all in of itself.. Stifles. Regardless of the time limit. Be it 1 year 5 years or 100 years.. It stifles for the period of time it is in effect.

With that said.. I wouldn’t be 100% against a 5 and or possibly 7 year time frame. After a max of 7 years it goes back into the public domain where it belongs.

Same deal with patents.. With the added bonus.. If you don’t use it or show progress of putting it to market in a reasonable time frame…… You lose it.

I see it more as… He has a lot more money and a lot of fans that could cry out and make this into something so unfavorable for the riaa and the like. If they thought they could make an example out of him with little to no backlash.. They would.

Right now they can run it under the guise of bullshit charges. If they charged him as well it would be seen to most as bullshit.

From what I can tell so far. It’s just trying to cut out the competition before it became competition.

The problem comes in when the person decides to buy it.. The majority of the money goes to the labels and others.. Only a very small portion goes to the actual artists.
