This needs to go on, not only to teach the MPAA to start respecting international law (no, huge amounts of money do not allow you to ignore jurisdiction or due process of law) but also to remind the US that US laws apply on US soil only, and nowhere else. I think American forgets sometimes that some countries have different laws and that’s just the way things are and if you don’t like it well bad luck.

(And seriously, if what this kid was doing is illegal, then they need to arrest everyone who works on Youtube – or heck, the entire staff of Google. Google’s search engine does the exact same thing – indexing content – and there’s more copyright violation on Youtube in an hour than on that kid’s entire website.
Oh, wait, that’s right, Google has a ridiculous yearly profit and a legal team to get the case laughed out of court. Ever notice how the MAFIAA never take on the rich?
This isn’t about prosecuting a copyright violator, this is flat-out bullying. That’s the only reason O’Dwyer’s the target – he can’t defend himself.)

Even the term “copyright theft” is a distortion and a falsehood.What could it mean to “steal” a copyright? You’d have to find someway to take the copyright away by force and gain possession of it.As far as I know, there is no way to do that. It might be possibleto gain possession of a copyright by fraud, but fraud is not the sameas theft.

I’d like to see other countries, say China, start to uniformly extradite Americans. Then lets see whether America’s opinion on international extradition (especially over-and-above the extradition agreements as its copyright goons seem to be doing) changes.
