Google needs to just start doing what's being asked. Take down all these sites and all the others that anyone every asked to be taken down.

Most freeloaders are geeks, according to the AI DMCA bot's teachers. Most geeks drink coffee, buy geeky t-shirts, and use Reddit and/or Github. They have clearly programmed their bot to be prejudicial against geeks. Unwittingly they have now stuck Starbucks' lawyers and Sheldon Cooper on the same team and will see just what consequences prejudice (and/or bad programming) can do.

ETA: I think the thinkgeek.com takedown will turn out to be for the 'rock paper scisors lizard spock' desktop mug page that contains the following description: "The symbols for Rock Paper Scissors Lizard Spock in a circle (with arrows for reference on what beats what) on a 16 oz coffee mug."

I would say congratulations to Congress for unleashing on the Internet World an extreme censorship tool that is commonly abused. Valid DMCA take-down notices are one thing but there is simply no excuse for abuse like this that attacks anything "coffee".

These elected morons in Congress welcomed organizations to LIE on DMCA take-down notice when there is no lawful requirement that the submitted details be valid meaning you can attack your friends, family, business rivals and more. The only lawful requirement is that you sign this "sheet of lies" honesty which means not to try of fake being someone else.

Then they totally omitted stating a punishment for DMCA abuse meaning such "victims" can only appeal to the Justice system for compensation. Damages though seem a much better fit for commercial businesses than home users (like Stephanie Lenz) who has so far managed to win back only her legal fee. Wait take abuser to Court, all their lies exposed, you win, but you only win back the money you spent taking them to Court and NOTHING MORE.

Congress has known about this problem for years but they do nothing to fix it because no one pays them to fix it. All the time we see DMCA abuse getting more extreme and common as services realise they can lie all they want... and no one can stop them.

The dmca activity targetting search engines rather than the torrent source is self defeating..
Ok most p2p users use the site search on the site of their choice.
Were they to target compliant torrent sites , a google user would have to find a valid search result amid a sea of dead links.
Targetting google is pointless as google will just pick up new valid links on their next scan. Its like peeling an onion. The dmca requests only address the links generated prior to issuing the notice..
A google user only needs one valid link to a torrent or download siite. If they want to make that link as hard to find as possible they should leave the dead links up.

The dmca zero cost notices are also open to abuse. It is something I have suspected where legitimate sources of files are listed for takedown. A legit download site could easily attempt to take down a competitors listings . Hoping a search engine does not have the resources to check links while the site trying to noble it's competitors hides behind a 3rd party agency that might be a non existent front.
Lets face it, on receipt of a dmca takedown, a site only has the word the notice issuer holds the copyright in the work, no checks are made.

It's mind boggling to see how governments and courts make is so that everyone's (literally everyone's) duty is to work for the copyright industry (ISP's must watch traffic and issue warnings, search engines need to remove links that might lead to potentially infringing content, citizen Joe needs to report his neighbors infringing behavior, etc) but the copyright industry can't even be made responsible to ensure they only try to take down content they actually own??? WTF!
