By reviewing the comments, it's clear most of these posters don't have a freaking clue what stealing is.

Stealing IS NOT downloading any kind of content. If you visit a friend, and they display a movie rented or otherwise, your watching that movie is NOT STEALING.

The argument of the "potential sale" is ludicrous when compared to the exposure that downloading and sharing provides.

Eg: The Movie "Taken" was released overseas first. 3 months before N. America got it. During that time, a generally mediocre film was advertised by word of mouth, shared and reshared so that when it came out they called it s "Sleeper" and one of the years best. There was almost no advertising locally for it.

Watching a movie trailer, isn't stealing, nor is it stealing if you eventually buy a copy of the movie.

Real theft is when something is taken from you that you cannot get back, something that deprives you of your ability to enjoy that thing of which you were deprived.

Who puts a value on the 2 hours you suffer though a shit movie? This is real theft, not downloading a mid level movie that you will eventually purchase at some point anyway.

There is no way to equate the potential loss of a sale to the real purchases made by those same downloads after the fact, it would not be in the best interest of these anti sharing companies to present this data.

Actually, Google is not my friend, but a company whose services I use ;) Anyways, I indeed followed your suggestion and among the first 10 hits there was only ONE which explicitly mentions 'pirate'. First hit is Wikipedia, as usual. Most site talk about changing copyright legally, and not about a 'wild west'.

Getting back to the original topic: Asking an ISP for a fee for all traffic because some customers do potentially illegal things is ridiculous, and you know that very well.
