Einstein isn’t a misquote because he actually said it. Franklin isn’t a misquote because he actually wrote it. Brown isn’t a misquote because she actually wrote it. But non of them can lay claim to being ‘the’ quote, only ‘a’ quote. It is most likely impossible to be 100% sure who was the first to utter those words. Plus, with an extension of multiple discovery it’s possible for more than one person to have had the same idea at roughly the same time. Non of them can lay claim to being the first in print because not every book, or diary, or piece of writing in the world has been fully documented or centrally scanned. The article never claimed anything more than the fact that Einstein has said it. You both fail.

The definition is from Benjamin Franklin in a Letter to his father, 13 April 1738, printed in Memoirs of Benjamin Franklin. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. This is often misquoted.
