It's a valid argument. After Napster, and then Limewire, I started to question used cd stores and what-not, then read the back of the cd about what I bought and what I'm allowed to do with it. I eventually decided by the time an item is second hand, the fiscal year is probably over, and certainly the fiscal quarter; and nobody gives much of one*. All in all, I'm tired of talking about money, and living based on it. I'd rather pay, but if I were ever taken to court about it, I'd have to invoke my right to face my accuser. And the rule of supply and demand amounts to charging what people are willing to pay. *I think the stoopid business men know that, and it's really more like a minor inconvenience or annoyance with loaded words behind it all; and common sense will win; innovation wont suffer on an individual basis. If you imagine a business man for Xbox, they work with computer savvy professionals, and they would like to impress their bosses by net profits. It's a human thing.

Not to put water on your flame, but server side computing only passes back video/display to the client, while the client sends mouse clicks and keyboard commands, no wheres near the 25GB stated as an example: mmo's do this nicely already. All the XBOX 720 would need to do, is have your "personal data of your character" on their server to make it internet only, just like WOW. So basically, every game will be an MMO.

Even if this did happen, it probably wont be hard to create a private server to emulate the server that the XBOX is connected to and trick it that it is legit. Similar thing happened with nagravision 3 encryption.

A story that's controversial to the point of absurdity, reported by a single source I've never heard of, which itself is quoting unnamed sources, which would likely have to risk legal action by breaching their NDA's.

Not buying it. I'll be concerned when IGN, Gamespot, etc. starts reporting the same thing. For now, I'm filling this in bull shit column.

To be blunt: who cares?!

Both MS and Sony are actually helping out PC gaming with their supposed new consoles. Why? Both are rumored to have x86 (i.e. regular PC) CPUs regular GPUs as well. In other words: hopefully no more ultra-crappy performing console ports anymore.

The DRM will just punish the fools who fall/fell for the console crap in the first place.. lol

They can introduce this protection. Not all data have to be processed server side, but I believe this protection basically aims to introduce MMO-style program architecture, where even in single player the game constantly exchanges needed data with the server.

Similiar protection is supposed to be inncluded with Diablo 3

MS is going to get SUED!

Shipping with DRM is selling a defective product. The only way to validate is via an internet connection? So you are making the consumer do the work of paying another service (ISP) to be used in order to make the MS product work? That makes the product sold defective by design.

Why should I pay an ISP just to make the game I paid MS in full to own be able to work? Is MS going to pay my usage costs to validate the DRM? I am not talking to play online- I have to pay an ISP just to turn the game, which I own and bought, on and get it to start?! FUCK THAT!

The only way to justify the need for online always access is if EVERY title sold on the 720 would have totally online play integration for all content. That won't happen. Single player and other modes and certain game types have to be taken into account.

My DRM argument might not hold up against all defenses or counters. Still, MS is going to get SUED one way or another over this.
