personally i think anyone who’s DS gets brick because of Nintendo’s action they should have them charged with vandalism / destruction of private property. I’m more then a little tired of companies trying to dictate what a product should be used for after it’s purchase. Someone has lost the plot here. When you sell it you no longer own it anymore. So if I want to hack it or just turn it into a doorstop that is well within my right. And believe me with the shitty build quality on some consoles, handhelds etc the door stop idea is more viable.

Read and agreed. I hope some judge use the iphone precedent over the other devices. IT’ll be epic win, in the face of Nintendo. And I’ll cut my wrists if they stop selling at the US for that. They earn shitloads of money already. We need to do some serious MAFIAA (Nintendo included) whiping so they’ll moan with a good reason.

(Don’t know if you would ever read this but:)

You CAN mess with the firmware at any time on your OWN device (and for friends too). There is no reason why you are not allowed to change one or more bytes in your own EPROM (Flash) memory you bought with the NDS (launching a nuclear missile as a result of the changes is not allowed :-) ).

You might not be allowed to distribute the resulting firmware but software that creates the changes can to be distributed. In addition in firmware cases, the “firmware” is only usefull as a part of the device because on its own as software it doesn’t work at all. This means that they sold every firmware in use and cannot claim lost sales.

If the blender cuts you, it is somehow a weapon, not a missile launcher but still….

Because the Euro has seen its shitloads of printed money to save who doesn’t need saving. Same shit. Against the currency in my country both the Euro and the Dollar have lost a lot of value. The almighty pound is worth shit nowadays too but I’m not quite sure if it was due to money print with no physical ballast (or whatever you call) or due to UK Govt stupidity.
