[…] Keksz U.S. Illinois 1 to be back soon (Resolved) Affecting System PPTP, L2TP, OpenVPN, CGIProxy | Priority Critical We are unfortunate to announce that there have been abuse complaints about hacking activities on our U.S. Illinois 1 node. We have been saddened to learn that these actions were harmful to individuals (human beings). As a result, we will open this node again and monitor it with Wireshark for a period of 7 days. If you are the hacker, please stop your activities and leave our network. You are not welcome here. Our heaven is reserved to those who are not harmful to other human beings. If you do not leave, we will find you and report your activities to NGO and press officers. For all others, the heaven is still safe for you, dear ones. We will completely remove Wireshark after 7 days and restart the node so that everything is erased (RAM-switch). All other nodes are left unaffected by these actions. > if you are a hacker and do not leave WE WILL REPORT to NGO and PRESS OFFICERS.
[…] ESnowden using HideMyAss While this type of PR isnt particularly tasteful, its also rather ironic since HideMyAss service does very little to keep users anonymous. Two years ago HideMyAss made headlines all over the Internet when it became known that they were ordered to share the personal details of one of its users with the authorities. The user in question, the now-jailed LulzSec hacker Cody Kretsinger, was exposed by the VPN which he assumed would keep him safe. This revelation got a discussion going about the logging policies of various providers, and it was the reason for us to provide an overview of VPN services that store no, or minimal logs. HideMyAss certainly didnt make it into this list. The company records the following identifiable information of its users according to its logging policy , which is then stored for a period of two to three months: a time stamp when you connect and disconnect to our VPN service; the amount data transmitted (upload and download) during your session; the IP address used by you to connect to our VPN; and the IP address of the individual VPN server used by you. In other words, in terms of IP-logging HideMyAss doesnt really offer more privacy than the average Internet provider. While this is totally fine, since the company is transparent about its policies, using Edward Snowdens name for their PR is a bit ironic. After all, if the authorities wanted to they could easily obtain Snowdens IP-address from HideMyAss. Perhaps this type of PR should serve as a reminder that not all VPNs are as anonymous as they appear to be. Comment rules: Please refrain from personal attacks and stay on topic.
[…] Its a vpn provider I would trust for my downloading traffic at least. Privacy but its not easy to know which ones do . There was talk on here a few months ago about forming a sort of VPN Certification group of people going around to different VPNs and actually checking to see they were doing the stuff they said they were. http://lex.io Lex Rivera Anonine is from portlane, known for hosting some questionable content. When i asked them about DMCA, they openly said that they do not care about it. After i asked them if i can post screenshot of that reply, they said that i feel free to do anything i want with it. They host several warez forums. They also hosted TPB for some time, maybe its still one of tpb providers. I doesnt use anonine anymore, because i bought vps from portlane and configured vpn on it. There was some problems, like DDoS on another VPS on same physical node where is my VPS located, their support system sucks (no proper ticket system, you should send them mail from your mail client / contact form, so no ticket tracking. They (support ppl) also seems to be unavailable at weekends, but they still solve problems like DDoS 24/7.), but their network is great and fast. Shitty part: some stubborn/retarded site admins blocked access from all portlane addresses. Probably just because anonine IPs originating from same portlane AS they use for their other services (portlane/gridlane/etc). They have more than 100k ipv4 IPs, and banning them all is just retarded. dx loat Behave like they did and this is the coverage you will receive. hide your ass but not yours they didnt even need this coverage.
