To be quite fair though, most americans tend to prioritize what the rest of the world is prioritizing – i.e. whether you can feed your family and pay off your loans. This doesn’t make them “stupid” any more than it makes the average european “stupid”.

That aside, the election system in the US is screwed up. The average voter goes to vote for a representative. In order to become a representative you need funding and campaigning. Because of that what the US people actually goes to vote for is the choice between two or more professional prostitutes who will then go on to vote for the next choice of professional prostitutes.

Much like going to a puppeteer and choosing which of his puppets you want to vote for and that puppet then gets to cast the vote on which of the puppeteers other puppets is going to be the flavour of the month.

Democrat or republican is like the choice of having the same meal and then picking whether you want salt or pepper on it.

So no, although you could make the case out of saying that the US public is in general very ill informed (which is the same everywhere) you can’t really blame them for either GWB or Obama. Even less so for Cheney or Biden.

You know- I dont do anything illegal so I dont worry about the cops busting down my door- I assume its the same with sites- if you arent trying to build a fortune by denying other people their income youre fine. If you are…. well- sorry- thats illegal- and just because enforcement is finally catching up dosent make it sinister or a conspiracy- its an organized society based on respecting some basic rights in action. The internet has been the wild wild west- Marshall is coming to town. had to and needed to happen-
You won’t be so gung ho about calling it a police state once someone steals your identity and puts you in about a year of HELL- then you’ll be happy that the long arm of the law reaches everyone and tends to keep people on the up and up
