And don’t use something you just learned off the link I posted to try and berate me that is “stupid” all I said is that osx is not closed source. I agree Linux probably doesn’t have much more than 1% in America, but I guarantee its closer to 50 in south America and Mexico, not to mention the rest of the world.

Um, it doesn’t. Because, you haven’t made a point. My point was usage. You’re showing me a random wiki leak of Unix-like. If your point is that Apple and Linux are combined, then you’re stupid. Because Linux derives itself as a separate OS, basing off of Unix. Apple’s OS, does the same.

Linux still has 1%.

osx is not closed, it open source well mostly, a couple proprietary parts, an altered source code from unix which spawned linux. heres a basic idea of how it all works. if the link shows. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unix-like look at the pic/map or read if you want but the pic pretty much explains it.

Unless they’ve managed to come up with black magic, a 12% error margin on identifying IP-numbers will still be the order of the day. There just isn’t a good way to circumvent NAT ambiguity or AP access issues while the internet still works the way it’s supposed to.

I like Linux and have found that for install-and-forget very few things beat a solid LTS distro of ubuntu, mint or debian.

Nevertheless, a point can be made that sticking to a formula which works…more or less…for everyone, does generate consistency which caters to the mass market.

Ironically the parts of the market which would truly benefit from a linux environment – big business – has been the slowest to adapt.
