I already know it, since New Zealand is puppet of USA which they already broke the the New Zealand laws themselves. This is the reason that court granted his bail and release.

That would be assuming RIAA/MPAA plays fair… Are you ready to believe that? Most of all, their whole breaking in operation in New Zealand is *already* troublesome.

I believe its illegal without any evidence. Hard Drives or any device of Kim Dotcom should be returned to him unless the court orders to do so.

But sending clones of his hard drives to RIAA/MPAA offices will not be possible because the court ordered not to do until they have enough of proofs that Kim has violated the copyright infringement.

If they really gave the clones to RIAA/MPAA offices without notifying the court it would be troublesome and it will also reduce the chance of Kim Dotcom’s extradition to the USA.

However they might install spyware on his devices to keep him tracked as well his activities. But Kim will outsmart those law enforcement as he knows that they will install spyware on his hard drives. He will easily replace his device with newer once and make original files transferred securely to new hard drive.

I guessed so. But do they think the man is stupid enough to not have a doubt about how those clones would have been made, especially given the high suspicion of “spy-in” from anything that comes from those “agencies”? Sending the man clones of his own drives is like giving him a microphone line directly wired to the RIAA/MPAA offices…

Ianal, on the other hand, I don’t believe there is any restriction on the method of obtaining the data, so long as it is done in a legal fashion. So brute forcing it is legal, but we aren’t going to go into the issue of them illegally obtaining that copy in the first place from the NZ.
I don’t believe they’ve cracked it anyway. If they had, and it had incriminating evidence in it, they’d be crowing about it.
If they had cracked it, but it didn’t have anything incriminating, they’d do one of two things. Either they’d pretend there was incriminating evidence in there, but refuse to show it, possibly citing national security or some other b.s. excuse.
Or they might continue to request loudly for the keys making a big fuss about the keys not being handed over is an obvious admission of guilt, while doing their best to make it look like they are trying to get the keys while avoiding that actual result as much as possible.
Hmmm…. They do seem to be making a big fuss, but not trying that hard to actually get the keys. Makes you wonder.

If the cops are honest enough to send Dotcom what was decrypted or not encrypted to start with, that should help him find out what exactly they have as far as evidence. He should say no thanks to the rest.. if it was a decent encryption, it will take a couple more decades to decrypt.

Once the data is seized they keep the copies of original files. Sometimes in case if the court ordered to destroy original data then the police will attempt to take clones before being destroyed.

There’s nothing in the article or the ruling, however they’ve already established that it was illegal for NZ police to send the data to the US when it was first seized. That hasn’t changed, and if they were caught sending the data again harsher penalties would be applied.

And then those penalties would presumably be overturned in the Court of Appeals…
