According to your arguments, sexual abuse in prison would be the result of the biggest and baddest convicts on the block all being homosexuals.

That is not so.

Pedophilia is a sexual orientation, as is being heterosexual or homosexual. It’s just that the target of affection is completely unacceptable. From what I’ve read even most pedophiles realize this.

Rape, however, often has very little to do with actual sexual attraction. It’s more often than not simply an act of sadism, and violent dominance. Hence no, abusing parents don’t actually have to be “pedophiles”. They just have to be sadists bent on preserving or establishing absolute authority. Just like some violent convicts in prison.

A pedophile in him/herself is fully allowed to have their sexual orientation. They are not and can never be free to actively pursue it. There is a big difference between what someone may feel and how someone may act. If there weren’t, freedom of opinion is dead.

You can’t win with ANY arguments from the zealeous, believers or the ones that by hearing/seeing a word they don’t like enter agression mode and shut off their mind to anything else around those words.

You might have tried using some examples like that “hitting children is also abuse” or the behaviour in prison. However i doubt i would have worked.

The same applies to the subject of racism where it is confused with religion or country. Actually had a discussion where the other person kept saying that having something against a country or religion equals racism (as some politician is often called a racist). Even discriminating women was mentioned as racism.
It was impossible to get this person to see any distinction.

So again, the conclusion is, unfortunetally, that you won’t/can’t win this.
