“Trackers are really not needed anymore for torrents to work. All BitTorrent users should switch to DHT primarily” So the piracy monitors will switch to DHT also, won’t they? I’m not buying this story at all. This was done to prevent VPN usage, pure and simple!

Update: The three major public trackers appear to have also disabled the email addresses used for reporting problems. Emailed complaints about this problem produce a “Delivery Status Notification (Failure)‏.” I wonder how much they were paid by content owners to cripple the BitTorrent network.

The article says there are ways to circumvent this problem, but doesn’t explain further. Exactly what are the millions of home users supposed to do? DHT anally rapes routers, causing most home routers to crash if DHT is enabled. Anti-piracy monitoring is a minor disease that can be prevented by using a VPN. The “cure” that the public trackers have implemented is fatal for me and many others.

Where was supporting alluded to in the previous comment? The only comment is the amused note that antipiracy enforcers are now engaging in activity which, according to their own standards, identifies them as pirates. Activity which according to some qualifies as violating the CFAA.

If it’s so useless, why are you supporting it?

I just started up a movie through Netflix streaming to test if VPN’s are blocked, and i’m connecting through my VPN (U.S. based VPN IP range) and Netflix streaming works fine, so, what ban? (What.Ban would be a great name for a VPN/Seedbox service if you could get a .Ban domain)

The point isn’t good or bad, rather the point is that you can’t hate on blocking, and then turn around and support it because it’s “your team” doing it.

If IP blocking is useless and easily bypassed, then it always is and you should be pointing out how useless this stuff is. Either it’s effective or it isn’t, which would you choose?
