People’s lethargy regarding freedom of information, censorship, and private and government surveillance is frustrating, though. Thankfully, there are a couple of parties in parliament that would strongly oppose immoral laws on the subjects, i.e. “Sosialistisk Venstreparti” (“Liberal Socialist Party; left wing), and “Venstre” (“Liberal Party”; moderate wright wing). An option for everyone, in other words.

Vote for them, and use every chance to make it clear what earned them your vote: Your trust in their ability and willingness to protect privacy and information freedom. That may make them raise the subject more frequently, as well as increase their resistance to pressure from other interests.

If the movie and recording industries manage a proper distribution model, it may still prove a failure (at least partially). They will need to entice those who “left the fold” to return to paying for content. Further, the longer it takes to develop an acceptable model, the greater will be the numbers of our younger brethren (and sistren) who have never known any but the pirate-for-free model – selling the pay-for-content idea to that group is bound to be imperfect.

By delaying the deployment of economically sound and sane channels of distribution of their content, the MPAA and RIAA ensure that some will never accept non-free alternatives. As the delay grows, so grows the number who won’t be converted to paying.
