Are you saying that they are not openly homophobic, they do not destroy Harry Potter toys donated in good faith and did not directed $10 million into a private company?

Yes, the people who give their time to charitable ventures are heroes, but I do not support this organisation.

Wait, you're telling me 'Pirates' are supposed to be viewed as the bad guys? Damn, and I always thought Capt Jack Sparrow was some sort of hero figure in those movies!

I have always associated pirates with freedom fighters battling the corrupt corporate power of empire, just as pirates of yore did, and just as Somali pirates of today often did.

FYI : The Somalis began by attacking the [actual] mafia who were making a killing selling their 'disposal' services to companies producing toxic waste. For a much lower fee than official regulated disposal methods the mafia would take waste from clients and dump it into the Indian Ocean off the coast of Somalia. Why Somalia? Because they had no functioning government following years of civil war, thus no coast guard protecting their waters from such acts. This dumping of toxic waste came to light when leaking barrels of chemicals started washing up (particularly after the 'Boxing Day Tsunami') along the Somali coastline, polluting local fish stocks and the local water table. This led to increased illnesses and premature deaths among the local population who, in their desperation, began to take on these mafia vessels. With nobody else to either protect the Somali people's interests, or indeed stop them at that, they soon learned that they could make quite a few quid from these acts of piracy and the practice grew until the point that it started to make TV News with the kidnapping of civilians in those waters.

You've probably never heard the real story before, but that's how it all genuinely started. The media would rather you believe the propaganda model which dictates that true civilian/people power is bad and you must obey powerful vested interests at all costs - don't disturb the status quo. If 'they' (the powered elites) allow the little guy to win, they create examples which can in turn inspire other people to try to take some of that power into their own hands. Don't forget, the media is OWNED by corporates (and even the supposedly independent BBC has corporate and state power controlling its coverage thanks to the associations of that shady board of governors).

Always be cynical, always question the 'official' line - there's usually an ugly truth hiding somewhere behind the smokescreen of 'news'.
