The fact that FACT (heh) was actively conducting not only investigations but also seizing private property highlights that it’s a rogue outfit and it must be put under control. They are no different than some sort of gestapo. Amuses me the two Xbox seized since consoles have everything to do with movies. I guess that just reinforces how clueless they are about the internet.

They [the admins] will probably get away free, much like the Filesoup case. However, the damage is done since the site has closed down and the community pretty much vanished. They should have kept if online and the members well informed.

FACT has some limitations to ensure untampered evidence. They are not allowed to seize items in a raid when only the Police can do that. A list of seized items are left with the home owner. Then FACT are not allowed to touch the original HDDs which is why in the first month they have them independently cloned and examined for evidence.

Oh you hit the nail on the head there.

FACT like to employ ex-Police officers for their knowledge of the law and how to abuse it. Usually but not always from the fraud squad.

These employees can then get buddy-buddy with their still serving Police friends.

After they have wormed their way in FACT then establish themselves like their own Police force. They head investigations, take charge of seized property, and conduct Police interviews.

The Police should obviously expell these parasites and conduct independent investigations.

At least criminal court cases are outside FACT’s control thanks to the CPS but all but asserting someone makes the Police FACT’s bitches.

so, let me see if i have this right, FACT is the accuser (plaintiff), but they are allowed in the defendants home to help look for evidence, secure evidence, and be in on the interrogation? wouldn’t be hard to fool around with evidence there now would it? maybe even plant some, not to mention what he hears in the interrogation that could help the prosecution. shit, you Brits have a totally f***ed up justice system.
