At least with video games such as Guitar Hero and Rock Band being so popular, teens today are discovering music that his something else then corporate gimmick crap like all of the Hip Hop filling the TV and airwaves.

Why not? The concept of a label is not bad, infact, it’s good. The intention of a label is to ease the the medium for which an artist can gain recognition and earn money for their work. It’s the practice that make most labels bad, not the theory. We shouldn’t abolish labels, we need to promote less greed in the business models of them or control it by some sort of system (god bless).

None of youz are getting it. People are not downloading major record label crap. People are downloading alternatives such as Boards of Canada, Bonobo, The Cinematic Orchestra, Tycho and many other [good] artists that belong to independent record labels. RIAA are just playing victim, when in reality, more people downloaded BOC’s Geogaddi than Beyonce’s latest album.

Slipknots latest album is one of the best ‘complete’ albums I’ve heard in a long time….It has a bit of everything I like….And I’ve beenn in into rock and metal for 40+ years.
His comments also makes sense but it’s more about people admitting….Everyone knows the labels are to blame.

i support bands by buying merchandise. i never pay for the music. but if i like them enough i will buy their shirts, go to concerts etc.
