Surely a script is a piece of creative work like a painting or a sculpture. Therefore reproducing a filmscript (or a painting or sculpture) online for the basis of education with no intention of earning an income from it should not be illegal. If it is illegal, then surely every single image of an artwork on the internet must be deemed an illegal act and consequently removed? Why is it any different from all of those websites that will give you any song lyric you want?

This is getting out of hand... if Fox doesn't realize how ridiculous 12 million dollars is for shitty films and shows, screw them. She's only trying to help writers, and she gets boned by Fox. I understand that they're pissed about Deadpool's script being leaked, but is that worth 12 million? They'd look better in the public's eye if they cut her some slack... but she should have known leaking a film not yet released with a secret script is NEVER smart.

I have been pondering the deeper meaning of their lawsuits....

Why do think the media corporations sue and attack poor people and women?

Jammie Thomas-Rasset

P.J. McIlvaine

It wouldn’t take very much investigative work on the media companies behalf to discover that these people are clearly unable to pay any exorbitant judgments they win in court. So why do they proceed with the lawsuits instead of reaching some amicable out-of-court agreement or spend their time, energy, and money bringing cases against someone with the money to pay them?

Their lawsuits are designed to try and destroy these peoples lives with unrealistic monetary amounts, shame, disgrace, and public humiliation.

That tells me a lot about who these media people really are. They have revealed their true selves.

Malicious.
Vindictive.
Greedy.

Ultimately, I don’t believe these lawsuits are about the money.

They are statements....public pronouncements.

* They want the media exposure to make themselves look like the arbiter of justice. “Look at us, we are in the right and the filesharers must pay for their heinous activities. We are good, the filesharers are bad.”

* They want the media exposure to try and deter other filesharers.

* They want easy court wins. If they sue the poor, then their wins are easier because it is more difficult for the poor to obtain adequate legal representation in this “land of opportunity”....it is shameful in the US that legal representation, healthcare, education, and the best jobs are only acquired through money and connections. SHAMEFUL.

* They want to have some wins in court so they can run to politicians and show them that this enemy known as filesharers exists and they need draconian laws to help them maintain their course of business. “Look at our court wins....this is the enemy....see them?”

Anyone acquainted with the facts, is aware that despite the media companies complaints of filesharing equating to lost sales, there is NO DOCUMENTABLE PROOF that filesharing hurts these industries. In a court of law, an allegation must be proven by substantive documentation, verifiable affidavits, and/or sworn testimony....otherwise, it’s just HEARSAY and not admissable in a court of law. So media companies, just as in a court of law, I ask you, you claim filesharers are hurting your industries....

Where is the substantive documentation to prove this allegation?

Why have you NEVER shown the public any shred of substantive evidence supporting your allegations?

Your press releases seem to contradict your allegations....

2008....record profits for the film industry....9.78 Billion Dollars.

2009....higher record profits for the film industry....over 10 Billion Dollars.

Politicians take note....the next time the film industry or any media company comes to you crying about lost sales in regards to filesharing,

ASK FOR DOCUMENTATION TO PROVE THIS BEFORE YOU DESIGN AND IMPLEMENT ASININE LEGISLATION.

ASK TO REVIEW THEIR ACCOUNTING BOOKS. If they want your help, then they should concede....that is, if they don’t have anything to hide.
