No man anonymous are the criminals. They are over 9000, for them self thinking individuals, that invest all their free time into crime. Their blocking of websites was not to show the corporations that it sucked to be censored like they were censoring others. So it is good that the fbi is investigating them instead of the people that started ddos-ing TPB.

Point of fact, if someone sues ACLaw for blackmail, does that amount to admission of guilt in the first instance of pirating? or copyright infringement?

Shouldn’t the charge be one of criminal intimidation or extortion?

The reason they avoid disabled people is probably because they are more likely to be on benefits that passport them to legal aid, and would get proper representation where the claimant would not be awarded costs even if they win. And this is about making money out of copyright infringement and not stopping it.

As to bad PR, is there any reputation left to worry about?

This is just the tip of the iceberg. The easy way for copyright holders to deal with pirates is to cut revenue sharing deals with as many lawyers as possible so that tens of thousands are being sued every day. After all, with the exception of China and maybe India, courts recognize that intellectual property is real, and theft of it is a crime. Some of you may win i. Court, but it will still cost you so much time and money that it will no longer be appealing for you to steal, especially after they garnish your paycheck and put a lien on your house.
