In addition to changing the look of its frontpage the site has renamed itself to ‘The Virtual Bay’ to celebrate a new partnership with neuroscientists from Russia, Israel and Japan. The goal is to build a next generation virtual reality device that will change the way people interact with the site and the pirated media it offers.

“As piracy is about to change from sharing of files into the sharing of everything, we’re planning our departure from this earthly form. Preparing our final ascension into the transcendence. The final conflux,” the TPB team notes.

Traditional media companies are resisting change and have been slow to pick up on virtual reality, but The Pirate Bay is jumping in to fill this void. When the site’s device is ready, Pirate Bay users will be able to actively participate in the games and videos downloaded from the site.

“Using a simple plugin into the brain, you will no longer only be able to see and hear a movie, a game or whatever it is you want. You’ll be able to live it. Play the main character. Tweak any story in any way you want,” TPB writes.

In addition, the virtual reality component will store the entire Pirate Bay ecosystem in people’s minds, making it accessible instantaneously, faster than ever before, and impossible to shut down. In other words, the people will become The Pirate Bay and take the site to a new dimension.

“Using your brain power and nervous system, we will be able to speed things up. Every part of The Pirate Bay will be stored within you and everyone else that dares to participate in this step into the future. The more we are, the faster everything will be.

“Our scientists calculate that if we become at least 1,333,337 nodes, everything will be shared instantaneously,” the TPB team adds.

In an attempt to right this wrong, the largest file-sharing site in the universe has teamed up with the only free nation left, the United States of America.

“Many of you rightfully bashed us for siding with a dictatorship,” begins The Pirate Bay’s announcement today.

“We want you to know that we have listened to your critique. So without further due, we hereby announce that we have moved our servers from the evil North Korea to the greatest fuckin nation in the entire world.”

According to The Pirate Bay, the U.S. Government helped them to secure their cloud hosting setup against any attacks from outside, North Korea in particular.

“We have worked closely with the awesome American Government to establish a strong military graded server park that will endure any nuclear attacks that Kim Jong Un and his evil allies will send at us.”

Of course The Freedom Bay will guarantee that people from non-free regimes can’t steer innocents in the wrong direction. To promote freedom the site will therefore remove all files uploaded from hostile territories, including France. American torrents on their turn will enjoy a speed boost.

Sadly, for South African BitTorrent users some bad news just came in. Coinciding with The Pirate Bay’s move to the United States, TPB and several other BitTorrent sites are set to be blocked in the country.

MyBroadband reports that The South African Federation Against Copyright Theft (SAFACT) have convinced the authorities to implement a new policy directive which will outlaw the BitTorrent protocol, and require ISPs to block access to torrent sites.

In related freedom fighter news, the Aussie Pirate Party has received a takedown request after it issued a poster design that parodied YouTube’s “this video is no longer available due to a copyright claim” notification.

“We were under the impression that parody and satire would be respected, but rather than fight this we decided to comply,” Mozart Olbrycht-Palmer, Deputy Secretary of Pirate Party Australia comments on the action.

In a bid on Auction site eBay, for the site of eBay.com itself, Pirate Bay (TPB) has come out as the official winner.

We saw that eBay was up for sale on their own site and since we have a long going law suit against them for abuse of our trademark name “pirat(ebay)”, we wanted to be pragmatic and just use our immense profits to buy them. This will hopefully make us spend less time with the lawsuit.

TPB will use the tools from eBay to make a better rating system for torrents. Then TPB will divide eBay up into smaller companies and sell to the highest bidders. We see no use for an auction site since most stuff is available for free.

eBay.com will in the future be redirected to thepiratebay.org, and hopefully this will put TPB into the top 5 internet sites today.
