Some want to turn every game in to a MMO game where you must buy it to play it. Well that is stupid. MMO is where great franchises go to die. They used to be about making good games that you could play by yourself and then have a good multiplayer option that was free. Anyone could run a server and even modify the the game. Quake Team Fortress and Half-Life are prime examples of this. They want to stop piracy? They can't, what they can to is put out good games and lower prices. $60 is too much money for a game. Only a relative few ill have enough to buy more than a few games a year. That's why you will have piracy.

I guess you haven't received a cease and desist letter from them eh ?
When HL2 came out i know more than one site admin that got them.
As well as wide sweeping account bans.
Rather than targeting everyone else their effort is to make their system better.
HL2 comes out all you need was to patch and export with a line of ASM
and soon after that they went to server side ticket auth in full force.
And more bans...

Their "big stink" is done very quietly.

I ran some unique experiments with my own steam cracks i made
and i was surprised how and what they knew when they killed one of my accounts.. and i tried to play stupid with tech support and they were lo buddy we know... wink wink lol
And this was when i was posting Steam v2 cracks publicly on a well known site. There was only a couple people that knew what they were doing back then. My point is don't assume things with Valve they are far smarter than people give them credit for. And you may find out the hard way if you need to lol

I've purchased numerous Stream req games.

While the download for Steam, from their website, says broadband, the physical copies only state 'Internet Connection'. Dialup is a internet connection.

Failure on Steam's part either way. They didn't care enough to actually monitor the requirements posted on physical games, to ensure that the requirements postsed actually met the requirements for steam to work.

I find it hard to believe that people still buy the game after having played it, but fine :P
Don't forget your friend can also just watch Youtube nowadays: whole playthroughs of games are getting posted in 1080p. When I'm looking for a good game, watching a bit of a walkthrough on Youtube is essential for me.
I also have a few games on Steam that I regret but not that many.

Net necessarily, I have a friend who torrents the games to check for compatibility and make sure it isn't buggy, and does a play through to make sure it's worth x amount of money. The main thing is with digital software is that if you buy, and you don't like it you are f****d. Unlike console gaming stores where you have more of a chance of taking it back or reselling it to get some of your expenses. It's a really big risk, I know I have atleast 5 games in my Steam account that I couldn't get removed that I'm stuck with and they suck or very buggy.

I cannot believe people are putting the blame on greedy pirates. WTF? where the hell is that codex of online piracy? or is it some made-up-on-the-spot crap some moral fags just pull out of their ass when they see their favorite asswhipe of a publisher get butthurt? qq

"Do what you want cause a pirate is free. YOU R a P!R4T3 !!!"

Also on the F2P part: Have you ever tried the critically aclaimed Tribes Ascend or Blacklight Retribution? F2P done right at its core. No P2W whatsoever. It takes pure skill and experience to handle the guns, ambush enemies and get the flow going.
I look forward to other developers adapting to the future of online and offline gaming without the need of DRM because F2P kills DRM and that overprized DLC bullshit. (havent heard about F2P offline though xD). Sure that whole privacy discussion and personal data stuff is another story.

What Andrew said. Wait till the big dogs churn out summer sales on steam, or if you dont like DRM check out GOG.com (no DRM no copy protection no bullshit). I cannot recall the last time I heard my DVD drive to spin up for something other than the OS I want to install since most of my games are either cracked copies of games or are bound to an online account. Never had problems with steam besides the GODDAMN LOW-Violence-Censorships BS. I had to use a VPN and gift me that stuff via PaySafe just to get the good bits untouched. GOG.com even sells unrated versions cuz they aint nobody's bitch.

These made-up statistics the CEO pulls (again) out of his ass are a clear sign of how butthurt he is about PC gamers still having the choice and the technical capabilites not to fuck with their braindead policies : "How dare you make use of the PC platfrom the way it was intended to. Bow down to our consolized games and take our huge DRM sausage. You better pay us half your savings for each release of crappy bug riddled 4-hours techdemo we churn out, bitch! Be prepared for the official DLC extension packages comin at ya for at least the same cost over all. Hand us over your credit card we be holding your data for future purchases btw. And one less thing slut. If you even dare to whine about shitty support and bad gaming experience we will turn your worthless pile of a gaming library into a even more worthless pile of plastic by BANNING your ID and account data from ever using our system again. *Pimpsmacks the fuck outta the lil submissive gamerwhore*"

In fact why even sell a disc inside a plastic box when you need to Download three times as much data that fits on the disc just to install the game which by then takes up half of you HDD and does not PLAY without being constantly online.

A big FU to Ubisoft for hating on the PC platform and a big FU for pirate hatin scumbags. What the fudge are you even doing reading up news on this site? Go pre-order the next over-hyped pos and be ready to pay out the ass if you are against piracy.
