Except when it doesn’t. In the music industry alone in the past 11 years there have been multiple class-action lawsuits and settlements against the majors for a fraction of the price-fixing they’ve been screwing us with over the years. You think we just forget about things like that? And when we give you money for quality movies we like, you turn around and give us Big Momma’s House 3. And you still think you are entitled to get whatever you demand from consumers, and when they don’t buy enough, you claim it’s all the pirates’ fault.

Also, I do indeed have a shitty job and can’t afford hardly anything. I don’t see how that is supposed to be proof that it’s not about the price for me. It most certainly is about the price. If I were really into UFC, and hadn’t already spent my entertainment budget on the myriad other things that compete for my attention, $5 sounds like a reasonable price to watch a live match which could run anywhere from a few minutes to the full duration.

I don’t agree with what the gym did, but how much money they took in for the screening is something probably quite easily determined, and certainly wouldn’t be an amount that justifies the absurd damages being sought. By seeking such egregious amounts in these lawsuits, the entertainment industry only proves to consumers that they’re ultimately in business to screw us out of as much as they possibly can, and to blame us for all of their problems. Why should I want to fund such shenanigans?
