A brief run-down of this whole issue has been posted as an article on Wikispooks using the ACS:Law analysis post here as the template for much of it - duly credited. It was prompted by receipt of an anonymous upload of one of ACS's copyright-holder agreements (which is also now posted).

The Wikispooks site is new. It is a cooperative wiki-type project and contributions in the spirit of its purpose are welcome. In particular, someone here may wish to add to the UK file-sharing article which is presently a bit sparse.

There's something about this that niggles me. In a good way, but a niggle nonetheless.

The ISP's so far have largely rolled over and played ball with MAFIAA, ACS:Law, etc, seemingly not willing to piss them off.

Suddenly, they have dug their heels in and stopped co-operating. I'm wondering what the real reason is. They claim its because of the ACS:Law debacle, and to a point I think that plays some role, but I'm also wondering if they were waiting for such a screwup so they could go back to protecting their data.

Dont get me wrong, I think they willingly helped out originally, but I just think BT and friends realised a while ago that it wasnt such a good decision, and have been looking for a way out.

This is it. They can say they've co-operated, but now there is real evidence about the whole process, any legal battle should be in THEIR favor, not ACS:Law and MAFIAA's.

Repercussions of Payback.

Maybe, just maybe, this case will draw further attention to the idiotic copyright laws we have today and how they kill creativity and the freedom of the consumer to try before buying and choosing what to spend with. Maybe they'll notice that stuff that's over 40 yrs old (ie Beatles stuff) has long served its purpose of giving money to the artists and only feeds greedy people and companies etc etc etc.

Operation Payback was a huge success!

DIGITAL ECONOMY ACT

Cramer Pelmont has ceased its interest in working with clients in the area of the Digital Economy Act. It continues to work on all other aspects of IP.
