The DCMS has released a statement which stated, “The Digital Economy Act seeks to protect our creative economy from online copyright infringement, which industry estimates costs them £400m a year.”

Can you please ask on my behalf they send me -
1. a full copy of the evidence upon which those industry estimates are based upon;
2. confirmation as to whether or not those estimates are believed unreservedly by the Dept and if not, what doubts exist and why please; and finally,
3. evidence that each measure proposed in the Digital Economy Act 2010 is indeed proportionate for the purposes laid out therein.

Very true. This is what worries me as we have seen just how spineless our politicians are when it comes to this. Take the DEA going through the wash-up in the run up to the previous election.

Wouldn’t that be a simple work around anyway by using a VPN with a server in the US or Germany etc?

Interesting to note that the UK government condemn China, Iran, Egypt for blocking sites but have no problem doing it when it’s demanded by the corporations (music, films etc) Really wish our country had some fucking balls.
