Unfortunately, we the public allowed this violation of our privacy to become legal. When PRISM was proposed, it passed through congress and the senate quickly because we were willing to give up our rights in order to fight the war on terror. However, the program, which seemed like a good idea at the time, has gone from useful to invasive, and should be shut down. If you agree, or disagree, please take a moment to write your congressman and senator about your stance on this issue.

Maybe they have had a problem user where banning all proxies and VPNs is the only way to do it. On my website, I had to go that way to keep out on problem user who just would not get the message that he was not welcome.

Using a VPN will not stop the Feds from listening, if they, say, Facebook, itself, wiretapped. All a VPN will do is make it where you cannot be traced. Even if you cannot be traced, you can still be listened in on.
