Done the impossible is the story behind the rise, fall, and rebirth of the cult TV show Firefly. Firefly was ressurected thanks to efforts of the fans of this popular sci-fi show.

In the documentary “done the impossible” the fans tell their part of this success story. They explain why and how they managed to get their Firefly heroes on the white screen in the popular movie Serenity.

The makers of the documentary offer a free, Creative Commons licensed .torrent download of their film. They state:

In our opinion, the modern state of copyright is counter productive to creativity and free culture. It puts unnatural restraints on “fair use”, hinders the creative process and has fundamentally destroyed an entire industry before it was even born.

Personally I’m impressed with the quality of this documentary, I highly recommend this one if you are interested in the story behind Firefly and Serenity.

this is exciting news, and the licensing should apply to more than just the documentary. it may very well cut out all the crap movies made for the all mighty $, and get to the people that are making great films like serenity, for the sake of entertainment!!

personally i found firefly so boring! not even close to the good scifi like sg1 and sga :p

Psht. Please. They couldn’t do better than Richard Dean Anderson? I mean, I loved MacGyver when it was on as much as the next guy, but Anderson just went way downhill when starting SG.

Plus.. I don’t see a fan-pleasing SG movie based on SG1/SGA.

Firefly was the only sci-fi show i’ve ever liked.

Agreed, I never post on any such forums; but for Serenity/Firefly it is a crying same it was cancelled. What I would give for another season or two…..

Couldn’t agree more with you Mike, its tragedy that the show was cancelled. I have never been much of a fan of sci-fi before but Firefly was exceptional, loved it.
