Demonoid Tracker Goes Down, Again

demonoidWhen Demonoid’s tracker came back online last month many people hoped the site would follow soon.

However, after a few weeks of service the tracker seems to have died already.

The inferno.demonoid.me trackers are no longer responding and demonoid.me DNS records are missing some crucial entries.

The last update we got from Demonoid’s admin was in mid-September, when the hope for a quick resurrection was already tempered.

“I hope there will be one day, but it might not be soon,” the tech admin told TorrentFreak at the time.

“We are down, and we’re not looking into putting the site back up at the moment,” the admin added.

Time will tell whether Demonoid can make a comeback once again.

I didn’t even know site was back :O

    • Gen. Eric Guy

Site wasn’t back. Only the trackers were; so if you were still downloading or uploading any torrents you had from there, they were live again. Unfortunately, it’s down again.

      • Ltf308

Even if the site were back up would you really want to trust it knowing that it’s such a high profile site, and it will be monitored. Now if they could figure a way to mask each user so no one would ever know who they are, that’s when you become a member. Then if they were busted again everyone could disappear and be gone without a trace.

    • justintime

demonoid is not DEAD and it will be back .. Be patient . These guys are creative !! it will again be a very cool site !!.

  • tinkerbell

lol its dead n gone lets move on

    • senkov1

Its gone down severl timeas demoniod has been gone for 6 mouths at a time but always returned given time. the fact the tracker has came back on and the domain has moved to hong kong is a good sign a return is near it make take mouths but they always do

      • Copyright Forever

Haha, Your pirate asses get smacked.

        • Guest

Nah, not while there is TPB and other sites.

        • Copyright Forever is an idiot

Demonoid was clean, no virus’s or anything, TPB and other sites are like STI’s and they are full of bad trackers.

        • asdf

You must be downloading from some random ass person then. I only download from VIP or Trusted on TPB and have never once gotten a virus and any other form of malware and the trackers used are good (usually the torrents come with PublicBT and OpenBittorrent tracker).

        • Gen. Eric Guy

Don’t underestimate a demonoid. These things are crazy resilient. They’ll be back. Not their first time getting knocked down.

        • PrettyPirate

;) Dont touch mah booty, son.

      • bobmail

Actually, moving it to HK is not a very good idea, it’s very easy now to get the authorities their to take against against piracy. The rules aren’t the same, running a tracker in HK is just not wise.

        • enzofloc

Where do you suggest? North Korea?

      • Guess

Demonoid won’t come back because of TPB? Do you really believe that? You do realize they both existed at the same time.. and the Demonoids still were highly active with Demonoid’s website. I mean, don’t get me wrong.. i use a variety of websites to obtain what i want.. but Demonoid’s seeder count was amazing. The people who kept that site alive were inspirational! From what i always saw.. the content was usually pretty damn good. TPB has survived through hard times.. but that doesn’t stop other sites from being developed. No (1) torrent website has everything you could ever want.. well then again, I speak for myself.

        • Tinkerbella

Demonoid has very loyal followers and no matter how long it takes or how many other sites come in the scene … they will always follow demonoid. Lots of sites can be taken down and come back up, but I assure you demonoid will always be the top missed site.

        • Qwwqwwq

I always found demonoid much faster and more reliable than other trackers.

  • Derp

OH demonoid how i miss your green tits. :(

    • Carolina

      don’t cry…the balls.are still there :)

  • 1Citizen

All I want for Christmas is my Demonoid back.

      same here man !

  • Shadow Walker

    @Copyright Forever

I find it funny that people have nothing better to do than troll the comments section of a news site and run their mouths. Clearly your life must really be pathetic when this is the form of entertainment one seeks.

    • 1Citizen

And what are YOU doing? Pathetic indeed.

      • Figuero

And what are YOU doing? Even more pathetic.

        • Whip

          And what are YOU doing?
Now another random person can ask me what I’m doing. Let’s create an infinite chain of silliness! :O)

        • Mr X

          And what are YOU doing?
We CAN do it if we worked for it! … and the chain goes on.

        • ScrewEwe2

And what are you doing Whip. Even more more pathetic, cuz you don’t have a reply button. Totally pathetic DisQus.

        • Eslam Nawar

All of you, what are you doing? even more pathetic

        • Hodgey Head

what the fugg are YOU doing? replying to his non-talent ass. damn, son.

        • Bob

Just checking in to see what everyone is doing right now.

        • JSun

what the hell are you all doing? don’t you realise you are making this page really heavy?! it’s heating up my freaking monitor!

Unfortunately a lot of torrents died when the Demonoid trackers went down, so having even just the trackers up is good. If they can be resurrected, a lot of existing torrents in people’s queues can get finished and pushed to other trackers.

  • Asmodeous

No one can keep the demon down! It shall be free once again!

      • minkepants

You know what would have prevented all these “thieves” from developing? Not charging a kid 20 bucks for a cd in 1985 (27 outside a major city, 30+ in the UK, more if you want anything outside the top 30 hits or more than 13 days old), or 10 bucks for a single song single. Or 80 bucks for a Disney VHS.

Those kids all grew up with computers.

        And now where are you?

        Phucked. That’s where.

        • Demygod

Yes. Phucked by your daughter. Reverse cow girl style. What she lacks in the looks department she makes it up with her enthusiasm.

On a lighter note, we are better off than most of you insignificant poor petty pirates.

Good or bad, do something significant.

        • Zzaapp

Yeah $22 bucks in 1988 and one good song on it… and they were upset about home taping…. remember those days?

        • Roleplayer31

this is so sad, so why do other sites like youtube get away with it you can download from youtube just as we all did from demonoid

    • Guest

When demonoid has the kind of financial, political, and legal resources to throw around that Google has, it will become invincible as well. Youtube would have been shuttered for good years ago by the MAFIAA if Google hadn’t bought out Youtube first.

  • http://twitter.com/PlaceboBelgium PlanetEarthvdd

I really hope they come back !!! The are the BEST !!! Please let 2013 be a great year for demonoid and his commmuntity…

  • justincaron

I’ve been using Demonoid for almost 7 years, It’s always come back.

A good site to check out in the meantime is http://kat.ph. The reason I liked Demonoid so much is that I could just go to the homepage, skim the categories and find what I wanted. KAT is the only other site I’ve found with a GOOD category summary on the homepage

Yeah KAT.ph is where I hang now

It was down for an hour or two

        • Minkepants

Oops. Reminds me of back in the 80s. The Port of Montreal was frozen solid months later (I think well into May) than in a typical year, resulting in a steep drop in the availability of hash in eastern Canada.

The cops put up billboards taking credit “Think it’s “dry” now? Wait.”

The cops were taking credit for the weather.

Of course the port thawed, everything went back to normal, and there you are

  • Wtf

We need you, demonoid! Please come back! I will donate again, too!

  • Trevor-1

I have a feeling this time Demonoid is gone for good. What a great site it is/was.
I wonder if good old Winmx is still on the go?………

  • Zero

I agree with the previous comment. what spurred pirates on were the price of goods lack of money for said goods, and good old fashioned can I get away with it. I mean personally when I started downloading and using torrents for my program and entertainment needs it was because I couldn’t afford what was available. History has proven that when one is unable supply what one needs then that resort to less savory methods to get what they need. Now I’m not saying anyone needs music and whatever, but with the option for it out there of course people are going to use it. I Miss Demonoid they were fantastic I used them since I was about 18 and I am now 27.my only hope is that they make a comeback. The anti piracy laws and copyright regulations including the institutions that lobby them have gone completely overboard. Primarily in the name of corporate greed. Of course there are many factors playing a part in this.

    • Hefe058

I agree 110% and I love how some people want to go all Henry VIII on people that download and share music, movies, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY overpriced software!!! Corporate greed is and always will be an UGLY thing, and yes it does force the less fortunate to resort to downloading from sites like Demonoid and TPB. I have found it very useful ESPECIALLY with movies. Hollywood has become stagnant and disappointingly un-creative, uninspired, making 3rd and 4th remakes of movies simply because the GOOD movies are pushed aside for “Wild Hogs” and etc (I could make a list a mile long of atrocities being called movies). I like it because I want to watch a movie before I PAY $20 for it and if you include the rental fee beforehand if you’re unsure…all in all you end up shelling out $30 plus (if you saw it in the movies) and that’s for a movie you like…..what about the other 95% (in my opinion) of unoriginal garbage that comes out of Hollywood? are we paying $20 for a blu-ray simply to cover the 95% crap movies that Hollywood didn’t make a dime off of because someone in a H-Wood executive meeting said YES lets green-light Wild Hogs (I’m using that POS as an example) …..What about all those creative original movies that deserve to be made showcased at sundance and cannes?….. because they are actually GOOD movies but some douche in Hollywood decides FOR US that their formula of recycling the SAME story over and over and over is a guaranteed winner which doesn’t happen very often anyway….if you look at the movies that are being released, the generic ones are those im referring to ……….SO MANY scripts and potentially GREAT movies are overlooked UNTIL some actor with some clout puts their name behind it otherwise they get trashed and likely never read because whoever wrote the script and/or the producers & directors aren’t “well known” and even if its the greatest movie of all time, if you’re a nobody the odds of making it happen are 1 in a million, whats ironic is that THOSE very same movies make a killing at the box office (case in point Monsters Ball)…..my point is why should we be forced to pay for garbage? and if you have a couple hundred DVD movie collection, add it up and you’d be shocked at how much you’ve spent over the years both in music and movies. I had to get that off my chest because Hollywood has disappointed me for YEARS …come on, The Expendables 2????” Yea lets have 10 of the 12 action stars in the movie be OVER the age of 65!! Seriously???? There are too many examples of the consistent epic fail in Hollywood. Im just fed up with Hollywood’s pathetic excuse they call movies these days and they wonder why nobody goes to the movies anymore…last time i made the effort to PAY $15 PER TICKET to see a movie it was like the majority of movies over the last 10 years but lately its gotten REALLY out of hand…..pure uninspired over cgi’d over acted and similar to a lot of mainstream movies in the script writing. I am in no way affiliated with Hollywood nor am I some indie guy im just a fan of GOOD MOVIES (they are rare these days) so why not download the new releases to see if they are any good as “keepers” and (iTunes Store aside) some people like to watch a movie the pirate way, see of its worth a dam (again very rare these days) Plus having to organize, stack, and store the DVD/Blu-Ray, even a hundred you’ve amassed over time they have to be on a shelf or on a rack and BOTH are tacky and take up a ton of space….I have a VGA cord connecting my computer to my TV and electronic movies are the way to go hands down….I apologize for the long winded post/rant but I really needed to get that off my chest, in the meantime I will continue to use TPB because the REAL THIEVES are the same people running Hollywood, releasing garbage and demanding we pay WAY TOO MUCH for it….HOLLYWOOD IM CALLING YOU OUT , STEP UP YOUR GAME ASAP

      • Zero

I agree wholly with what you said about essentially testing movies before you buy I have saved a ton of money by pirating first buying later. And I am one of those people who have well over 400 assorted movies blurays and anime. And I agree that as a general rule entertainment as well as programs and games have slid downhill quality wise, the unfortunate thing is that the prices have risen. That is one of the biggest reasons I am a pirate. I’m not above shelling out the money for quality merchandise but the quality isn’t there 95% of the time and one some of it if the quality is present the price tag is outrageous. In an entertainment sense watching for free is usually the way to go you like what you see purchase it if not trash the thing. I normally do that with all the media I gather. I say good point sir good point.

        • Christopher Dodd

And I agree as well. I at one time had over 1100 DVDs. Many of which I just bought because I could afford them and I heard good things about the movie. However, so many of these DVDs where shite. And I would guess at least 300 of the aforementioned DVDs never were watched more than once.

I live DVDs (well, as long as that medium continues). I like the extras and the commentaries (and the easter eggs), but none of that stuff makes a bad movie any better. I am in the process of building up a DVD collection (lost the last one), and pre-screening movies downloaded from torrents found at TPB or Kat is a great way to do this.

Having spent so much money in the past on DVDs–and begin duped on a lot of really bad ones, I feel no guilt whatsoever doing this “pre-screening”

        • Rumple

And I agree with everyone who agrees that I couldn’t agree more!

      • Sol_

to bad you use shitty vga cord lmao, no matter what you get it looks like shit l upgrade your shit and movies might look and seem funnier mao

        • Notta Douchebag

’cause a shitty movie in 1080p is so much less shitty.

Crap is crap. Equipment can’t fix bad acting or lack of plot.

The site being up.. that was the gubbament people checking the images and powering up the seized servers to see what they do. When they discovered it really really was Demonoid they let it run to see who was seeding.

demonoid had lots of older things, and was great for commics and ebooks also. I hope it does come back, been using it since 06 and though I hadn’t been using it as much in the pastc ouple of years I still went there for some older things sometimes. I still have most of those torrents in utorrent’s folder & am certain even it takes a year at some point the site will be back they always disappear for a long time then you check up one day and they’re back poof

a new strategy is needed for sites such as demonoid.

Some sort of wandering meta location where the site “location” is abstract and the real site can jump from place to place, and maybe just moves regularly (say, half the average time it takes for legal proceedings to get underway.)

.. or perhaps .. a meta site which is constructed from scrambled distributed info on 2 or 3 or many sites (in a holographic way). (ie. no site has any coherent info referring to, in any way, to copyright info). .. maybe in a redundant way so losing a site will still allow the construction of the meta site.
