BREIN Takes Down Yet Another Usenet NZB Site

Another day, another Usenet site takedown for BREIN.

Latest victim – nzbspy.nl.

With the recent decision against Usenet portal FTD in hand, anti-piracy group BREIN is currently contacting as many Usenet forums in The Netherlands as possible, threatening the admins with large fines unless they shutdown immediately.

Many are complying, but it seems likely that some are simply being intimidated and are in fact not breaking any laws.

For an idea of how a Usenet forum should conduct itself to stay the right side of the law, comments from FTD lawyer Arnoud Engelfriet here and here should prove useful.

The threatening letter BREIN is sending out is available here (Dutch).
