      Argo fuck yourself Troll.

Silver Linings Playbook starts off as a bit of a Downer and then gets really good.

The Hobbit may be no LoTR but its very enjoyable.

      Argo was Good.

      Django was excellent.

      Lincoln was also excellent.

Zero Dark Thirty was pretty good if a little hard to watch at points(torture).

And I have heard nothing but good things about Life of Pi.

Why do people comment constantly on these posts about bad the top ten movies are? This week almost all the movies on the list are worth downloading and watching. And I would venture to say that a couple of them are worth buying also.

  • dlovin123@gmail.com

The Hobbit in 1080p is amazing. Its the one movie on the list I watched in the theater and I will buy on bluray once the uncut version is out

I enjoyed Hobbit but as a movie for itself. As a LotR it fails.
The whole thing was too tryhard, take the end for instance where the chief dwarf starts going off with all that CoD style bullcrap and the music to fight that troll.
I freaking cringed on that scene but didn’t in similar scenes with Aragon and all in the trilogy.
Perhaps it has to do with the suspense that is required to fulfill it because equivalents in LotR had the scenes put up in proper final fights of desperation of really massive scale.
This was both small scale and too sudden and it really made the whole scene look ridiculous.

The CGI overload was also something i disliked very much. What captured me in LotR trilogy is that it didn’t do absolutely everything in CGI except parts that it just had to, everything else was a mix of CGI and props working together properly or just props for the sake of validity and immersion.

Also he abandoned seriousness as a trait in this movie.
LotR had a good balance of comedy/humor and seriousness and it knew how to blend them as well as knew how to subtly change atmospheres without it being too noticeable.
The Hobbit just breaks down all that subtlety and goes too all out and changes drastically and noticeably at many points.

Peter Jackson really fucked up with the Hobbit and was too full of himself and too full of the past while making it.
After watching the film and thinking on it a little i understood what many reviewers meant when they said that Peter Jackson was clouded with Lord of the Rings while making this film instead of focusing on this itself in purity.

    • briraaen

I think Peter Jackson did okay with it.

It was no LOTR sure, but comparing these two is like comparing apples and oranges

LOTR trilogy was epic, Hobbit is a very good movie (personally I won’t rewatch, once was enough).

Will agree on the CGI used. It’s getting ridiculous how much they use it everywhere, in every movie, it’s cheaper than using real actors, but it’s getting ridiculous.

That’s why we’ll never see again the epic atmosphere in Ben Hur for example, just knowing that thousands of real people where in the crowd following instructions!

      It’s just so sad LOL!

      • durp

I fucked up in my wordings, but in the end what i wanted to say was that the existence of LotR kinda fucked up Hobbit with Peter Jackson trying too much to draw in from LotR (his past) instead of focusing on Hobbit itself in the same way he focused on LotR without looking back on past works.
He made LotR perfect in line with how it was supposed to be in atmosphere by relying on his own talent on the go and constantly creating. With hobbit however he took another route by trying to grasp the feel from LotR.

It’s kind of strange saying it but i didn’t compare them exactly. However i can which is in turn the problem.

In short it isn’t me who is comparing Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, it was Peter Jackson and that’s the problem and i can recognize it in this film after having watched it and recollected on what many critics said.

Relax man, the Hobbit was great. It’s not perfect, no, but show me a movie that is.

    • ScrewEwe2

I read the comments last to first, and I have to say after reading all the comments, i agree with you. I’ve watched The Hobbit, Django, Zero Dark Qwerty, Life of Pi and I think all of them were enjoyable. Some people just love to complain and bitch.

  • choice_films@dot.com

I don’t get why it has DVDscr on a few of them. ROTG,Argo and Life of Pi all have 1080p blurays out. Argo 1080p has been out for quite awhile and ROTG and LOP 1080ps have been out close to a week. I guess ppl are still wanting screeners even though top notch quality is available?

    • utuxia

DVDScr is DVD Screener. Its released before the movie is available on DVD in retail at the end of the year so academy awards voters can watch what movies they are voting on.
