Year one made me laugh like crazy, I love that movie.

I think this is less “Top 10 most popular movies” and more “Top 10 Movies Not Worth Paying For” considering Year One is at the top.

DVD rips? Ripping is illegal, especially when not for personal use and promoted on sites such as these (which make a profit from illegal file sharing)

Watched 15mins of year one and got bored, did not make me laugh or smile. So i watched the kids film Monsters vs Aliens instead and that was more enjoyable. District 9 very good film the rest in the top 10 list are pants.

Year One is a lot better than the 5.0 rating it received from IMDB.

I think it just doesn’t fit into the normal US style of comedy though, which is why it gets such bad responses.

District 9 was very enjoyable, but an 8.6?? It certainly wasn’t THAT good… There’s nothing really in there that’s so memorable.. ‘cept maybe for the catfood?

@7: It’s still the end of the summer break. There are pitiful few TV shows for TF to report on.

Bones, Fringe, and Dollhouse return this week.
Heroes and Numb3rs return next week.
FlashForward starts next week.

etc, etc, etc.

Aye, but it would be nice to see what people download when there is little on.

Although these strong players already started a while back:
Entourage
Weeds
True Blood
Dexter (pre air)

Year One was okay, but Jack Black RUINED the movie. He has absolutely no talent at all.

District 9 was AMAZING though,
One of the best sci-fi films I’ve ever seen

District 9 is cult

18 Sep 14, 2009 at 23:07 by Erm

It says most movies being downloaded, not the most popular movies … try to understand the difference.

Oh and…District 9 is an over-hyped piece of shit. 4/10 at best.

20 Sep 15, 2009 at 01:08 by Anti Idiot

District 9 is one of the worst movies ever made.

District 9 was frekkin boring.

Omg we hurt aliens boohoo

22 Sep 15, 2009 at 03:31 by Sir-Real

@3 Yes,downloading a rip is an illegal activity, none the less for R5’s, DDC’s, and TS’s. And on another note, how in any way shape or form does this site profit from file sharing? (legal or otherwise) I am assuming that they don’t run there own tracker that you have to pay to get into. No, they make their money from advertising, just like every other site on the entire internet.

@23

No.

27 Sep 15, 2009 at 15:38 by Lithium

The same people that cut down District 9 are the same people that found G.I. Joe and Transformers 2 must see/must own movies.

Shame on your parents.

28 Sep 16, 2009 at 04:19 by Yuck

@Lithium

The three movies you mentioned are all over-hyped dirt.

District 9 is an amazing movie. I am a film school graduate, so I judge movies very harshly, but tries to keep an open mind.
And district 9 definitely deserves IMDB’s rating of 8.6.
The film uses a documentary style to blend in the obvious fiction with reality, making it more believable. It also uses the historical reference of district 6 during the Apartheid, except now they replaced Africans with Aliens, and keeping the themes of racial discrimination, xenophobia, and racial tensions. It has great special effects, great acting, a very fresh and new idea that intelligently presses current issues. It may have taken some time to tell the story, but it was well worth it. This film is not made for the lowest common denominator who only enjoys movies with lots of explosions, simple plots, and catchy yet tacky one liners. (eg. Michal Bay)

This chart shows that people pay for the good movies and pirate the bad movies.
