    i like how they’re using ‘Shared’ instead of ‘Pirated’ now in the article title. lol

  • TerribleTony

    They made a third Death Race? But Death Race was absolute trash in comparison to DR2K.

    So Inception back down to 2nd again making its 8th week in the top two. That is 4 weeks at number one and now 4 weeks at number two.

    You got to love movies based on computer games like with Tron and the game lightcycle.

    I still await them to turn the original Pong into a movie the world’s first ever computer game.

    This is clearly a relationship drama involving Mr and Mrs Paddle and their new baby nicknamed “ball”

    They have very different left and right political views and busy working lives.

    As a result Ball gets tossed about between the Paddles with neither wanting Ball in their working area. During such conflict a successful dumping they call a “score” and makes a point of selfish satisfaction and brief celebration.

    They learn to sort things out in time…

    Well they did it with Tron, Street Fighter, Mortal Combat, Silent Hill and much more so why not do the original Pong? :-)

    I didn’t notice that

    How long do you think the change back to top 10 shared will last this time?

  • Yeah

    downloaded inception onto my laptop, watched it, then got it on blu-ray for my brother for xmas because I thought it was such a good movie.

    Leonardo DiCaprio, bit torrent just made you (and the studio) an extra $25 they wouldn’t have received otherwise. Cheers and Happy Holidays to all.

  • Michael

    @11

    Exact same for me. Wasn’t convinced at first, but gave it a d/l and ended up buying it – something I wouldn’t have done otherwise.

  • Jcberry526

    @11 and 12

    same as me seen it at the pictures which costed 6euro, downloaded the BRRip costed 0euro then got the Bluray which was 20euro

    totaling 26euros, so i think bitorrent/sharing works in favor of studios to make more $$

    I wonder whether Tron Legacy will be out in high quality before it is released in Ge-BeNeLux (Germany, Belgium, Netherlands) around the 26th of January.

    Stupid distributors delaying release here. Else I would have gone and watched it tomorrow evening. Now there’s a growing chance I might legally download it for free instead.

    @8 tron wasn’t based on a game dude… it’s a sequal to the original Tron movie…

    anyway, it was good I liked it. My brother wasn’t as much of a fan though. I suppose it could have been better in some spots as parts of it are even more unbelievable now than they were in the original just because we all know more about computers now… but overall I think it’s a fine movie.

  • OPXR

    People are actually d/ling Death Race 2. Did they not see what a shit fest the first one was? There’s no way number 2 can be any better.

    Yes Tron: Legacy is a sequel to the original Tron of 1982 but what the original Tron based on?

    Many people who played computer games back then could easily spot the race sequence concepts. Different formats did different names but try LightCycle (exact same name as this movie’s vehicles) or the game Surround.

    Maybe not easy to recall facts from 28 years ago and some people would not even be born by then. You could well still be able to download these old games and the right emulator.

    Tron was one of the very first movies to incorporate a computer game theme.

    Interestingly enough Tron did very poorly at the boxoffice. So much so that Disney refused to make another live action movie for another 12 years. Back in 1982 the computer animation used was quite revolutionary and they even included a 3D computer scene which was technology that would not be created in real life for several more years.

    As with more modern movies they soon turned Tron back into a computer game and sales proved so popular that the game earned them more than the movie did!

    Hollywood these days likes to tap the computer games market when computer game sales is one massive market with sales they can only dream of.

    Then 28 years later we have Tron: Legacy and they dare to try it again. Maybe now the animation is worthy of the story.

    Because watching a plotless special effects movie on a crappy TS makes perfect sense.

  • Abbernomad

    @19 Couldn’t have said it better myself. But I’ll try. :) TRON sucked. Yea, the special effects are fun for 5 minutes if you REALLY like NEON! The story was abysmally bad. Kid gets a call from dad, goes into tron to see him. Spends the rest of the stupid flick trying to get out again. Brings back a chick with him that has a dopey look on her face. It’s California, she’ll blend right in.

    As far as those morons talking about how proud they are to dish out their money for BLUE-RAYs, fuck you. You’re morons. What the hell’s the point of downloading if you’re just gonna buy the damned thing anyway? Some assholes buy them, never open them, give them away as gifts, or keep them on shelves as ornaments. That’s stupid! They’re stupid. They’ve completely missed the point of downloading these movies.

    1) Free information for all, regardless of class or finance. (This is why libraries were built. So the elite would not be the only ones with access to information.)

    2) Downloading is a new distribution model that antiquates the traditional model. By paying for it, you’re just prolonging a system that should be abandoned.

    If you assholes are so proud of yourselves, go buy the VHS, DVD, and bluerays. They’re so full of shit. How many of these shitheads do you see at the movie theater buying a ticket, then walking out saying, “No, thank you! I’ve already downloaded it! I’m just here to do my part for the industry!” Assholes!
